During the winter season, the refuge supports tens of thousands of geese and ducks, who rely on its abundant resources to survive the harsh season. Of major importance, Blackwater hosts three endangered species, the Delmarva Fox Squirrel, the American Bald Eagle and the Peregrine Falcon.
