Aside from local tour, A B and C, our first choice is a trip to the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Dorchester County, just South of Cambridge Maryland. The refuge includes more than 27,000 acres of tidal wetlands in the form of marshes, ponds open water and swamps and it has been designated as “Wetlands of International Importance.” Blackwater is a prominent and vital part of the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem.   Blackwater is a major stop on the Atlantic Flyway hosting up to 250 species of birds and waterfowl during their migratory journeys each spring and fall. During the winter season, the refuge supports tens of thousands of geese and ducks, who rely on its abundant resources to survive the harsh season.   Of major importance, Blackwater hosts three endangered species, the Delmarva Fox Squirrel, the American Bald Eagle and the Peregrine Falcon.
